THE year-ending ATP World Championship, staged indoors in Frankfurt in November, could move to the Gulf Arab state of Qatar in 1996.

 The Qatar Tennis and Squash Federation has contacted the ATP regarding the tournament, which features the world's top eight players.

 The contract between the ATP and Frankfurt ends in November 1995.

 Ali al-Fardan, head of the Qatar federation, said the ATP wanted the tournament to be played outdoors and that the climate in Qatar in November would be ideal.

 ''We are hopeful that we can reach a deal,'' he said.
