September, 2005 After several rounds of talks, the site's developers successfully apply to the Jiulongpo district housing administration for a demolition order.
January 2007 the housing administration holds a hearing and upholds the demolition request.
March 19 The Jiulongpo District People's Court orders the couple to vacate the house before March 22, or face a forced eviction. The deadline passes with the couple still in the house.
March 30 Under pressure from intense media and public attention, the Jiulongpo court issues another compulsory demolition order, telling the couple to move before April 10.
March 31 The district government holds a press conference to explain the redevelopment project and justify the demolition.
April 2 The owners agree to move.
