Dell centre to evaluate IT infrastructure programmes Dell, the world's largest personal computer maker and the biggest supplier of servers to the mainland, last week launched a new Application Solution Centre in Hong Kong to help companies evaluate their information technology infrastructure programmes.

The centre will allow Dell enterprise customers to conduct affordable, proof-of-concept tests regardless of scale.

High-end applications, such as clustering a group of computers, are also available for evaluation.

Huawei Technologies completes Mobile WiMAX field trials in Japan Huawei Technologies, China's largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer, has completed two Mobile WiMAX field trials in Japan with Reinan Cable Network in Tsuruga City and Beam Planning in Hida City.

'We have confidence in the huge potential of WiMAX, and we expect to bring Japanese subscribers advanced broadband service through co-operation with cable television operators,' said Cai Liqun, president for Huawei's WiMAX product line.

The trials are regarded as an important part of the u-Japan Plan, a Japanese government initiative to implement seamless broadband network coverage throughout the country by 2010.
