Ku gets wax job
Hong Kong's Madame Tussauds has unveiled a wax figure of Canto-pop singer Leo Ku Kui-kei and his cartoon creation Kubi. Comic fan Ku created Kubi, which is also his son's name, during the Sars outbreak.
'I feel privileged to have introduced a cartoon figure to Madame Tussauds. Time just flies, Kubi [his son] is now three and it's actually his birthday today,' Ku said after Wednesday's launch.
And what does he think of his wax model? 'It looks a lot like me - the facial expressions and the eye contacts. I think it's better looking than me,' said Ku (right, with the two models).
He said every inch of his body was measured - including the width of his eyes, thickness of his eyebrows, length of his fingers and some places he said he wouldn't have even thought of.
'Every part of my body was measured - even the length of my eyelashes, which I never pay attention to,' he said. 'They took almost five hours measuring my body. I fell asleep.'
Ku started his showbiz career as a TV presenter on TVB Jade's entertainment news programme in 1991 and became a pop singer in 1994. His voice, with the use of falsetto, won him many music awards. He was the first singer to win all four best newcomer gold awards from local radio and television stations.
