Trainer David Hall reported a mild temperature variation in his Hong Kong Sprint winner Absolute Champion yesterday morning in a bid to head off any negative rumours before tomorrow's Group One Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup (1,400m). Chief steward Jamie Stier issued a brief press release yesterday detailing the situation with Absolute Champion, who will be checked over again before taking his place as a likely short-priced favourite for the final leg of the Sprint Triple Crown. 'There's absolutely nothing wrong with the horse, but my assistant said the horse's temperature was slightly up from the usual when we arrived at the stables this morning,' Hall said. 'I know how these rumours get started. So I wanted to be up front and make sure everyone knew the right story.'
