Success in the business world takes patience, perseverance and strategy, as OTO Bodycare (HK) has proven. The company is taking part in the upcoming Hong Kong Houseware Fair for the fifth time and feels this year could be the big one.

'Buyers have a habit of just looking around and checking you out for a few years, keeping in touch with you and getting information before they get serious about business. They want to see if your company withstands time,' managing director Charlie Yip Chee-lai said.

The company contacted buyers about the products it was exhibiting this year. The response has been strong and many advance appointments have been made. OTO Bodycare is highlighting two products this year: the Master Relax Massage Chair (MR-1390) and FLABeLOS FL-3000 shaking machine.

The massage chair is relatively compact and features multimedia functions, including a music synchroniser. Apart from saving space, building a smaller chair also saves production costs so it can be sold at a price that appeals to more customers.

The shaking machine is said to use proprioception (the body's natural reaction to external forces) to achieve workout results. It has been available in Asian markets for some time, but a new version has been developed to better suit the average height and weight of people in Europe and the United States.

'Our primary markets are still mostly Asian, but last year we entered the UK, Dubai and other parts of the Middle East. This year we hope to open the US market,' Mr Yip said.
