1. 'Always do your make-up in daylight by the window. Household  lighting can be misleading and make the skin appear warmer than it  is.'

2. 'Always use a hard eyebrow pencil. Soft pencils are too thick and it is easy to go wrong with them. A hard  pencil lets you build up the colour gradually for a more subtle look and shape.'

3. 'If you don't know what colour blusher to use,  choose something that is two shades darker than your usual foundation. Pat it into the fleshy palm of your hand under your thumb and feel for the underneath of your cheekbone. Place and gently rub the colour here.  The result: shape and warmth and no hard lines.'

4. 'Always powder your lips, apply lipstick, liner and powder them again. Then reapply your lipstick if you are wearing a strong colour. This prevents feathering and also makes it last longer.'
