Where? Downtown Dallas, Texas, on historic McKinney Avenue, an upmarket shopping area.

Who? The hip lifestyle emporium was opened by former model Shelly Musselman and store designer Brian Bolke in 2000 and has become one of the city's premier shops.

Fashion finds: expect a mix of international and cutting-edge designers and talented locals destined for great things. Women can choose from brands such as Azzedine Alaia, Basso and Brooke, Doo.Ri, Marni, Givenchy, Stella McCartney and Rick Owens. The men's selection is smaller but equally fabulous and includes skinny shirts from Band of Outsiders and separates from Dries Van Noten and Moschino. There are handbags from Derek Lam, Blinde sunglasses and Martin Margiela shoes. Jewellery, made from semi-precious stones and 18-carat gold, is by designers such as Melissa Joy Manning and Gabriela de la Vega. Check out cosmetics by Santa Maria Novella and organic oils from Patyka.

The vibe: the 8,000 sq ft boutique, with its orderly displays, wallpapered walls, traditional furnishings and warm wood floors, is housed in a renovated historic building. A touch of modernity comes courtesy of an in-house DJ spinning funky tunes.

The crowd: Dallas trendsetters, including big-haired and blinged-out housewives, preppy college girls and well-dressed metrosexuals. Oprah Winfrey, Lauren Bush, Gwyneth Paltrow and local actress Angie Harmon have all been known to shop here.

Extras: the boutique stocks homeware and stationery, and has a cafe called the T Room. Take a break and lounge outside on the patio.
