I am a new mum who is yet to get back in shape (read: flabby belly). Where can I find stylish but comfortable tops for jeans? Preferably casual shirts or kaftan-like tops; not T-shirts - they don't hide the bump. Lady Bump, Shek O The Dictator rules: Hmm, let me think. What clothes will cover a bump? Oh yeah, maternity clothes. This is probably the last thing you want to hear but I'm not here to spread sunshine. Keep wearing those pregnancy tops and buy more, if necessary, until breast feeding, sleep deprivation, exercise and the simple passage of time restore your tummy to its previous dimensions. Online store www.bunintheoven.com.hk has a number of empire-waisted chiffon tops that work well post-pregnancy as well as a jersey baby-doll style in various colours or a floral print (from HK$250). Keep an eye out for the collection being released at the end of this month. Linea Negra (20/F, 1 Lan Kwai Fong, Central, tel: 2522 7966; www.lineanegra.com.hk ) has kimono-style tops with ruching up the sides (HK$620) to help hide your belly and subtly shaped A-line Maternal America tank tops with lovely embroidered details on the back (HK$670). A visit to a fitness-gear shop such as Rush Resort + Swim (unit A2, G/F, Wilson House, 19 Wyndham Street, Central, tel: 3102 0558) could either make you feel better or a lot worse. It has a wide selection of kaftan tops by brands such as Mandarin Orange (from HK$350) and Echo (from HK$550). If those don't work, try some sit-ups. Revlon seems to have vanished and with it my favourite eyeliner pencil, ColorStay, which doesn't smudge, is waterproof and stays on for hours. Before I apply the eyeliner I put some powder on my eyelids. Could you recommend a brand with the same qualities? Eyeing the Competition, Wan Chai The Dictator: Thanks for the tip (although it's totally irrelevant). I don't know where you've been shopping but we had no problem finding Revlon at Watsons (customer hotline: 2606 8383). It sells ColorStay eyeliner for HK$65. Next question? OK, we'll indulge you with some long-lasting options. In the same store, we found Dodo Club's waterproof liquid eyeliner (HK$52), which has the all-in-one packaging with a brush attached to the lid. Going upmarket, Smashbox makes a waterproof cream eyeliner (HK$195; shop L2, Langham Place, Mong Kok, inquiries: 2407 6383) but it only comes in bright green or blue and you have to buy a brush separately (HK$160). Bobbi Brown sells a similar pot of gel eyeliner (HK$160, plus HK$165 for the brush; shop G21, Festival Walk, Kowloon Tong, inquiries: 2378 0693) in a wide choice of colours. Speaking of how your eyes look, when was the last time you had them checked? Ever since seeing Kate Moss wearing a pair of grey, pinstripe slouch trousers, I've been obsessively looking for them all over town. Do you know where I can get affordable black slouch trousers? Copy Kate, Western Mid-Levels The Dictator: Let's be clear: 'slouchy' on Kate Moss is probably fitted on most women. That said, Chloe has beautifully tailored, wide-legged trousers that might fit the bill (HK$4,270; Lane Crawford, IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2118 7777). Baggy pants are nothing new. That's why you might find something you like in a more traditional outfitter's such as Brooks Brothers, where the women's line includes what some might call 'slacks' in fabrics such as linen and light wool (HK$1,780; shop G4, Prince's Building, Central, tel: 2523 3366). Even cheaper, Mango's current selection includes some relaxed linen trousers, sold in a few solids such as army green, white and, yes, black (HK$255; Mango, shop 1053, IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2295 3262).
