This programme of 23 short pieces was festive and jubilant. The mood was infectious, with the audience clapping and cheering. The smiles of the dancers, dressed in splendid costumes, were warm, as if they were performing for old friends.

There's always something fairytale- or toy-like about Russian culture, an element the Ensemble made use of to add a special dimension to folk pieces such as The Crane, Winter Games and I Walk and Have a Good Time.
