Several teams have been recruiting Brazilians on short-term contracts to boost their chances in the FA Cup, which has the added value of being an entry to the summer's Barclays English Premier League Asia Trophy in July. With the First Division title all but decided in South China's favour, attention now turns to the Cup, which offers prize money of HK$160,000, together with a special winners' bonus of HK$500,000 and the possibility of playing against Liverpool in the Asia Trophy. The tournament also features Fulham and Portsmouth. The FA Cup kicks off this weekend and South China have already secured two Brazilian players - Fabricio Bento and Cleiton dos Santos - before their first-round match against WoFoo Tai Po on Saturday. Defending champions Xiangxue Sun Hei, who will meet Tai Po, will be terminating Peruvian forward Antonio Serrano Davila's contract to make room for two more Brazilians. Happy Valley are also believed to be in discussions with three Brazilian players. Meanwhile, winless Hong Kong Olympic team left for Malaysia yesterday for the fourth match in the Asian group B qualifying tournament.
