Promising  Young Hero turned in an outstanding performance at his all-weather track debut and from a more favourable barrier draw he should prove fast for his rivals in the final leg of Sunday's Triple Trio at Sha Tin.

The John Moore-trained gelding arrived in Hong Kong with sound credentials of four wins from eight starts in England and he displayed ability on more than one occasion in four appearances.

The four-year-old found 1,400m  too sharp at his first three starts, as his breeding suggests, but a switch to 1,650m bought about substantial improvement.

He was taken back from a wide barrier and as the field reached the home turn he was in second last position as jockey Manoel Nunes peeled to the outside.

Young Hero let down brilliantly in the final stages to end up only ? lengths from the winner Golden Sun in a performance that indicated he had a very bright future.

From gate four this time, Nunes will be able to have Young Hero closer to the speed and he should be able to get over the top of his rivals.

Hardest to beat will be capable all-weather track performer Ample Gains after showing he was coming back to form with a sound effort at his last start.

The Manfred Man Ka-leung-trained gelding finished just behind Young Hero last start, but he has trialled well since and the engagement of Olivier Doleuze is a plus, given he was the last jockey to be successful on the Danehill gelding.

Others entitled to consideration are Global Win and Time Supreme, while the lightly-weighted Wadadelight and Fat Choy Forever should be competitive, despite the former being a slight distance query.

The opening leg, for Class Five horses, is a tougher affair but it's hard to go past Cenamira when looking for a banker despite the fact he hasn't managed a win this season.

The Alex Wong Yu-on-trained gelding has been racing consistently, placing at his last two appearances, and he looks set to be in the thick of things again despite jumping from an awkward alley under Douglas Whtye.

Timber City had the measure of Cenamira last start after being well rated in front by Gerald Mosse and trainer Andreas Schutz has wisely taken a claim, with Marco Chui Kwan-lai engaged for the ride.

The only query on this occasion is that Timber City is likely get more pressure, which could make him vulnerable, but he's hard to deny given he remains nicely placed.

Other worthy inclusions are Danzigmountain, Three Clubs, Star Prodigy and Couldn't Care Less, while last-start winner Figs will find this tougher from a wide gate and dropping in distance.

In the middle pin, Joyful Years again looks banker material on the back of his improved recent form.

The El Moxie gelding has won two and placed twice from his last five starts and is ideally placed again, with the slight negative being his tricky gate.

Whyte will only need a touch of early luck on the Peter Ho Leung-trained four-year-old to be right in the action, while his main opposition will come from Speeding Molly, Shining Day, Fast Track, Tattenhall Delight and Justinian.
