Definitions of terminology adopted by the Party Central Committee in 1957, from A Glossary of Political Terms of the People's Republic of China.
You pai (Rightist) Those who oppose the socialist system, the dictatorship of the proletariat, democratic centralism, the leadership of the Communist Party, socialism and the party, by dividing the people's unity and providing secret information to other rightists.
Ji you fen zi (Ultra-rightists) Careerists, leaders, strategists and core members of the rightists movements, those who propose and advocate anti-party and anti-socialism programmes, the most troublesome and stubborn functionaries in the anti-party and anti-socialism movement
Da zi bao (Big Character Poster) These are a popular tool in political movements and are usually mounted on walls in public places. The writer uses over-sized calligraphy to express his opinion and draw attention.
Da ming da fang (Speaking freely and expressing views adequately) In April 1957 the party encouraged non-members to help with its Rectification Campaign by voicing criticism of the party. Together with Da Zi Bao and Da Bian Lun (Open Debates), Da Ming Da Fang are remembered as the notorious Four Bigs in Chinese political campaigns.
