Sometimes it gets ugly in the beauty industry. Modelling agency Starz People has issued a writ against model Ankie Beilke and her manager-mum Ankie Lau Heung-ping (right, with her mum) alleging they have breached a contract the agency arranged on behalf of Bella Skin Care. The lawsuit was filed last Thursday seeking an unspecified amount. According to Starz's Stephen Chau Sai-lung: 'Up to now, Ankie has done some photo shoots and attended some PR events, but she decided that she would not do any more promotion. Both my company and my client are very frustrated about that.' When asked to comment, Lau, speaking for her daughter, explained: 'We didn't sign any contracts, not with Starz nor for this job.' At an event for Levi's last Friday, though, Beilke hinted the problem may be money-related: 'I haven't received a penny [for her promotion work for Bella]. I wish the whole thing will be resolved soon since the staff at Bella are very nice to me.' We actually thought she was embarrassed or upset at the unladylike print campaign, which talked openly about her unsightly thick arm hairs.
