Jockey Munce refused bail

1-MIN READ1-MIN

Disgraced Australian jockey Christopher Munce was yesterday refused bail by the Court of Appeal. Munce was earlier this year found guilty of breaking Jockey Club rules after it was found he had made more than HK$1 million from a tips-for-bets scheme with local businessmen. Last month he was jailed for 30 months. His legal team, which yesterday included Sydney senior counsel Guy Reynolds, has lodged an appeal against the conviction. Justice of Appeal Peter Cheung Chak-yau dismissed the application for bail pending the appeal after almost a day of argument.
