Watch me Rock, Hong Kong Shue Yan University's charity band show, takes place tonight from 6pm. It features local bands including indie rockers False Alarm and Innisfallen, acoustic-emo-rock group Slash!SAKURA!Slash! and experimental punk band Hard Candy, along with university bands Darkness Pool and Ignite the Hope. JAPANESE CULTURAL FUN DAY

On next week's public holiday (May 1), from 1pm to 4.30pm, the Yew Chung Arts & Language Centre will host a day of stories, art and craft stalls, demonstrations and games. The event celebrates Japan's national holiday Children's Day, which is on May 5. Admission is free, but prior registration is required for some workshops. Call 2337 0369 for details.

The Artist Commune has invited 15 artists to take part in their Local Ginger Painting Exhibition 2007. The works are categorised according to the artist's background: overseas, from the mainland and local. The artists express their love for Hong Kong and their feelings towards life.
