Hiroshi Fujiwara is something of a major figure in Japanese street culture. The DJ-turned-designer is considered the godfather of Harajuku street fashion, and he's also not a bad musician.

Fujiwara was in town on Thursday for the opening of hip boutique F.I.L. on Wyndham Street, which features his designs. Later, he performed a short acoustic set at L16 Restaurant, enjoyed by numerous stars like Edison Chen Koon-hei, Shawn Yu Man-lok and Charles Ying Cheong-yau.

Playing a variety of cover tunes from the Beatles to Culture Club, fan and actor Sam Lee Chau-sum admitted he was surprised by Fujiwara's musicianship. 'I knew he could play guitar, but I never expected he would sing so well.'

Another fan is Knowledge and 8five2 shop owner Brian Siswojo, who expects the F.I.L. shop here to reach the heights of the stores in Japan.

'Their shoes are really amazing ... I only wear cheap and reasonable shoes, and I like his Visvims,' Siswojo said.
