Chanel's new Les Ligne de Chanel (HK$405, bottom) gives a choice of three compact powders in different shades: pearly brown; black with blue reflections; and sparkling black for a bold eye. Use the eyeliner applicator and apply the powder along the rim of the upper and lower lashes. For a halo, charcoal or smoky effect, use the foam eye shadow applicator and shade it over the eyelid. Dampen the eyeliner applicator for a more precise, long-lasting look. The best way to apply the liner is to put a small amount of powder on the back of your hand. Tap away any excess, then apply. La Mer has introduced Blanc de la Mer, a range of whitening products made with whitening sea ferment, bio-ceramic white algae, vitamins, minerals and botanical ingredients. Products include a cleansing foam (HK$550/125ml), created with sea algae fibres and white pearl powers to replenish the skin's nutrients. Its whitening lotion (HK$600/200ml) prepares the skin for further products. This helps skin become softer, refined and clearer. The whitening essence ( HK$1,950/ 30ml, below) aims to reduce the appearance of sun spots, freckles and uneven pigmentation. Highly active antioxidants protect the skin. Primary colours of spectral light emitted from red, blue and green tourmaline gemstones are said to create a white light for a halo effect. The main ingredient in the Infusion Primer and Whitening Mask (HK$2,800/eight) is the group's anti-irritant marine complex. Burberry has released Burberry Summer for men and women (HK$480/100ml, HK$375/50ml and men, HK$410/100ml). The women's eau de toilette is a fruit-floral combination with citrus top notes (mandarin, bergamot, grapefruit) blended with green apple. It has middle notes of water lilies, freesia and rose and a hint of vanilla to finish off. Burberry Summer for men is a citrus and woody fragrance enhanced by thyme and soft geranium notes. Available at Harvey Nichols, the Landmark, Central, Sogo, Causeway Bay, Seiyu, Sha Tin, and Wing On Plus, Kowloon. Clarins' Expertise P3 Screen Mist (HK$350/100ml) provides protection against all kinds of modern pollution, including electromagnetic waves, the company says. It says pollution from artificial electromagnetic waves, either indoors or outside, is a major form of pollution. These waves are generated by communications equipment and attack skin all day. Clarins says its screen mist can protect skin, which ages more quickly when exposed to these waves, and shield it from other forms of pollution. A university study showed that, after 24 hours' exposure to a frequency higher than 900 mega hertz, there was a 19 per cent increase in free radicals in the skin. The P3 mist leaves a veil on the surface to combat this, the company says, and can be used by women, men and teenagers. Apply it once a day in the morning. Spray it on before going into a smoky, crowded environment. Available from all Clarins counters. L'Occitane has a new fragrance range based on the summery scent of cherry blossoms. It includes Fleur de Cerisier eau de toilette (HK$380/100ml), which blends cherries with freesia, blackcurrant, lily of the valley, rosewood, amber and musk. There's also a bath and shower gel (HK$140/250ml) and shimmering body lotion (HK$210/ 250ml) that exude the same fragrance.
