Architect Gary Chang, a self-confessed hotel obsessive, opens his suitcase. 1. Waterproof cap 'I don't like wearing macs so I use a waterproof cap instead.' 2. Map of Europe 'As I often go to Europe, I always carry a map of it around with me. When I'm feeling down, I just have to open the map and think of my next destination and I feel better.' 3. Gloves 'A little trick I learnt was to wear gloves when carrying heavy shopping bags so as not to chafe your hands.' 4. iPod 'I don't use it for music, much - I mostly use it to store photographs.' 5. Luxe Guides 'A small and stylish way of carrying a city guide. A definite travel essential.' 6. Durable folder 'Since I often travel for work, I keep all my paperwork in a big folder.' 7. Notebook 'With squared paper. I draw out the floor plan of every hotel room I stay in.' 8. Laptop 'I'm not a computer person but unfortunately, it's a requirement for work. I don't find the laptop itself heavy but I hate all the cables and equipment that go with it.'
