A short stroll along the banks of the River Thames in London offers a wealth of cultural attractions.
1. London Eye (below left)
Enjoy a bird's-eye view of London - as far as 40km in all directions - from a capsule on the London Eye. Also known as the Millennium Wheel, this symbol of modern-day London, standing 135 metres high, is the world's tallest observation wheel. For a romantic sky-bound interlude, the Cupid's Capsule package for two (GBP299/HK$4,680) offers Laurent-Perrier champagne, pink champagne truffles, private check-in and express entrance ahead of the queues. Because the London Eye is one of the city's most popular attractions, even if you're taking a standard jaunt, make sure to book in advance. Standard tickets cost GBP14.50 while the fare for children (five to 15 years) is GBP7.25. Those under five ride for free. Visit www.londoneye.com.

2. Shakespeare's Globe (below right)
If you fancy a bit of Othello, you're in luck. Shakespeare's Globe Theatre hosts plays from May to October, with pro-ductions of Othello, The Merchant of Venice and Love's Labour's Lost showing this year. The theatre is a replica of the 1599 open-air playhouse for which the playwright wrote many of his greatest works. You can also join a guided tour of the theatre or simply wander through the world's largest exhibition devoted to William Shakespeare. A self-guided interactive play-reading programme allows visitors to overlay their own audio performance on scenes pre-recorded by Globe actors. There are sword-fighting exhibits, a working printing press and flamboyant displays of Elizabethan clothing. The theatre tour, and entry to the exhibition, costs GBP9, or GBP6.50 for children. See www.shakespeares-globe.org.
