The movement contains technology designed to prolong the accuracy and reliability of timekeeping

Earlier this year, Omega unveiled its new in-house manufacture Calibre 8500/8501, and along with it a collection of watches containing the movement, the De Ville Hour Vision.

The new calibre is the first movement created from the bottom-up and in-house by Omega for 30 years, and it was conceived and developed to work with the brand's Co-Axial escapement. Omega president (China & Hong Kong) Kevin Rollenhagen said the movement was a milestone in the brand's history.

The automatic movement contains 202 redesigned components and the brand's Co-Axial technology, designed to prolong the accuracy and reliability of timekeeping over time (an improved 13-line movement has two barrels which increase the energy source, provide greater stability as well as a 60-hour power reserve).

The newly re-engineered Co-Axial escapement and a free-sprung balance improve performance by providing greater stability to the watch's running rate. The new calibre is the result of Omega's objective to upgrade its existing proprietary Co-Axial technology which was introduced in 1999.

Omega De Ville Hour Vision meets the trend of the past few years for larger watches and comes with a 41mm case. Four glass openings are on each side of the winding crown, at nine o'clock and between the lugs of the round De Ville case. To achieve this and to ensure the watch is water-resistant to 100 metres a whole sapphire glass is set into the case.
