A primary school in Yau Ma Tei will trial new technology allowing teachers to check students at the touch of a hand. Yau Ma Tei Catholic Primary School's palm readers would handle attendances, allow students to borrow library books and could even allow students to pay for items such as textbooks. 'It will be just like using an Octopus card, except it will be impossible for students to lose their cards,' said Lam Hon-kin, head of IT at the school. 'The main motivation to introduce the system is to simplify teachers' administrative workloads.' It would also be used to control access to parts of the school.
