THE in-form duo of Gerald Mosse and Lawrie Fownes look worth following again at Sha Tin this afternoon after plundering the spoils at Happy Valley on Wednesday night. They look to have a great chance with Sunday Cruise (Nap) in the final event and, given the way Mosse has returned to Hong Kong in such triumphant style and given the way Fownes has his stable in such devastating form, it is hard to imagine there won't be plenty of other visits to the winner's enclosure during Mosse's month-long stay. Mosse notched a brilliant four-bagger on Wednesday night, two of which were for top-conditioner Fownes, and on today's card any one of three horses could go close for the partnership. Mosse rides Sky Horse in race three, Kadbridge in the prestigious San Miguel Silver Tankard and Sunday Cruise in the ninth. While Sky Horse and Kadbridge have definite quinella chances, it is Sunday Cruise who looks to be ideally placed in the 1,400-metre final event as far as a win bet goes. The seven-year-old grey gets the benefit of Mosse's considerable talent - he really is one of the finest riders I've ever competed against - for the second time. On their first encounter together they combined to finish third to Neville Begg's International Bowl hero, Winning Partners, by 31/4 lengths. Ridden in typical Mosse style, Sunday Cruise was allowed to sit quietly off the pace and brought into the race at just the right time, finishing with a convincing turn of foot but one that couldn't quite deal with the gelding who has matured into the territory's finest sprinter. With similar tactics this afternoon, and from a handy inside draw, Sunday Cruise looks the one to be on in this ordinary Class Three event. Trainer Begg may again prove the toughest obstacle with his last-start winner, Magic Joy. With time and patience, which are two of Begg's great assets as a trainer, Magic Joy has been developed into a vastly improved performer compared to last season. He won well from close tactics last time and from draw 10 this afternoon similar race-riding could see him give Sunday Cruise plenty to think about.
