Shooting has finished on director Wilson Yip Wai-shun's action movie Flash Point and, following tradition, the cast and crew held a wrap banquet at Kai Tak airport's Aviation Club. There are extra reasons to celebrate finishing the film, which stars Donnie Yen Chi-tan (right). After a string of freak injuries to cast and stuntmen, producers changed the Chinese title from a phrase resembling 'a destructive star' to something a little less inauspicious. 'Superstition or not, things went a lot smoother afterwards. 'I personally think it [the name change] didn't have any effect,' Yip the sceptic suggested. But he wasn't entirely sure. 'Of course, most of the injuries had a lot to do with the movie's action, but strangely enough the situation improved after the name was changed and fewer injuries were reported. So, don't you ever say that it had nothing to do with it.' Maybe it was the new kung fu elements, called 'mixed martial arts', that Yen added. 'It is very popular in North America as a kind of sport promoted on many TV programmes and reality shows. It's a mix of all kinds of Chinese wuxia, not just one. I also find this new fighting style difficult and challenging to film.'
