Train-crash miracle woman Tanya Liu Haijui says no amount of money she might receive over the Potters Bar rail crash in London could compensate her for the loss of her health and two of her best friends.
'Frankly, I do not know details of the ruling, and I do not know the amount of the compensation,' Ms Liu said yesterday in Hong Kong after a British High Court awarded her an undisclosed sum.
Mr Justice Irwin agreed to an award against Jarvis Rail and Network Rail Infrastructure, saying it was 'in my view a substantial sum and reflects the severity of this injury', the BBC reported on Monday.
The sum was widely reported to be #4 million (HK$62 million).
'No matter what the sum is, it cannot bring back my health and two of my best friends,' Ms Liu said.
Ms Liu was declared brain dead after the train crash in May 2002, but miraculously came out of coma two months later after a Beijing doctor administered controversial treatment using pressurised oxygen.
The crash claimed seven lives, including two Taiwanese friends of Ms Liu - Wu Chia-ching and Lin Chia-hsin, both television journalists.
