Maurice Lacroix has made its name in the watch industry largely as a specialist of the chronograph. This year it adds five extensions to its Masterpiece collection, two of them chronographs. The Masterpiece Le Chronographe features the brand's own ML 106-2 chronograph calibre. A stainless steel case surrounds a dial where surfaces given a polished and satinised finish sit side by side to create a contrast in aesthetics. An anthracite solid silver base is given a vertical satinised finish, while an applied and silver ring used for the tachymeter scale is given a round satinised finish. Arabic numerals are polished. The Masterpiece Masterchrono has two variations - on one sportier version the dial features a black base and silver-hued satinised plate which creates an almost 3D effect. It features three counters on the left side of the dial, and Arabic numerals. The second version has a classic appearance and features a sun motif at the centre of the black dial and Arabic numerals coated with Superluminova for greater visibility in the dark. Both watches come with a 43mm stainless steel case and are water resistant to 100 metres. They are fitted with an ML 67 calibre. Both have a weekday and date window at 3 o'clock, and a tachymeter scale on the outer dial.
