Indian firm plans expansion, seeks partnerships
Satyam Computer Services, one of India's leading information technology service providers, plans to establish a bigger market in China as it engages more domestic customers and builds a global delivery campus in Nanjing.
'We want to explore other opportunities in the local market, in addition to working with multinational corporations,' said Byrraju Rama Raju, co-founder and chief executive of Hyderabad-based Satyam. 'We aim to be the preferred systems integration vendor for multinationals and large local companies.'
He declined to provide investment figures or market forecasts but said the company was looking 'to scale up operations and form strategic partnerships' in the mainland this year.
New York-listed Satyam will double its headcount in the mainland to 1,000 by the end of this year from last year. That will increase next year to 3,000 - more than 95 per cent of which will be local Chinese.
The company recently broke ground at the Nanjing Software Park for the construction of a 75,000 square metre Global Delivery Campus. The site will house 2,500 staff which will make it Satyam's largest facility outside India.
