A banned dye was found in a rice dumpling at a Yuen Long restaurant, the Centre for Food Safety said yesterday. Forty-nine rice dumpling samples were tested for chemical and bacterial contamination, with all but one passing. Tai Wing Wah Restaurant sold the contaminated dumpling but it was made at a factory in Yuen Long. 'We will consider prosecuting the supplier,' said Tina Mok, the centre's principal medical officer (risk management). Sudan red is suspected of causing cancer.
