Two words in an e-mail from Volar listing the club's upcoming attractions sent a shiver down the Outtakes spine last week: Booka Shade.
The German duo of Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier are, arguably, the kings of the global electro-house movement, and have a knack for producing infectious, hook-heavy grooves that work as well on headphones as they do on large club sound systems.
Last year's Movements was hailed by most of the electronic music press as the album of the year, and prompted the Pitchfork website to state: 'Rather than seduce with ostentatious artistry, what they offer is a superlative functionalism: dance music so perfect it can't help but move you.'
There's no word on when the veterans of the Frankfurt electronic music scene will be playing in Hong Kong, or whether they'll be bringing their famed live show or just be presenting a DJ set, but this is definitely a gig to look out for.
