Police seize Ice in taxi

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a taxi in Tuen Mun at 7.15am yesterday and seized HK$204,600 worth of the drug Ice. Police arrested the driver, 50, who was later released on bail, and a male passenger, 45, who was detained for questioning but had not been charged. In a separate case, police arrested a suspected woman drug trafficker, 21, and seized HK$69,000 worth of ketamine in Mong Kok at about 12.20am.

Two arrested over illicit pork

Two men were arrested in a joint operation by customs and food and environmental hygiene officers after personnel intercepted a private car at the Lok Ma Chau control point and found 450kg of pork without health certificates.

Worker hurt by falling concrete

A worker suffered head and chest injuries when he was hit by a 100cm by 60cm concrete block that fell off the outside wall of the first floor of an industrial building in Chun Pin Street, Kwai Chung. The man, 55, who had been putting up scaffolding on the ground floor, was in serious condition at Princess Margaret Hospital. The Labour Department is following up the case.
