Anime Japan Fes in HK 2007 (Concert) Hoards of Hong Kong otakus stormed the Hong Kong International Trade and Exhibition Centre on May 18 and 19 for the Anime Japan Fes in HK 2007. The two-night anime theme song concert featured five famous 'anison' (a combination of 'anime' and 'song') singers. Each night had a theme. The first was 'Super Ani-song Spirits', which saw many classic anime theme tunes performed. The second night was 'Super Robot Spirits', an evening devoted to robot anime songs. The legendary Ichiro Mizuki, or Aniki as he is known to his fans, led the group of singers that also included Mitsuko Horie, Horonobu Kageyama, Masaaki Endoh and MIQ. Aniki kicked off the first night with the opening theme to Leiji Matsumoto's 1978 classic, Space Pirate Captain Harlock. Kageyama performed an energetic rendition of Head Cha La, the opening theme to the new Dragon Ball Z, which really got the audience going. The night was a celebration of classics. All singers collaborated on an acoustic version of Ganbare!! Robocon, with Aniki and Kageyama on guitar. The second night's Super Robot Spirits concert was even more exciting. A packed house rocked to theme songs from my all-time favourite Maringer Z, Voltes V and Gundam, to name but a few. A number of Getta Robo theme songs were also performed in tribute to the show's co-creator Ken Ishikawa, who passed away last November. To win one of two cards autographed by the five singers, answer this question: what is Otaku Corner's favourite super robot anime?
