The world of electronics moves rapidly, with new designs quickly replacing existing ones. So successful firms in the electronics business need staff who are creative and can improve product lines if they are to stay ahead of the competition. Fujikon Industrial, established in 1982, has various divisions that design, manufacture and sell electro-acoustic products, such as headphones, microphones, speakers and hands-free headsets for audio, communication and multimedia industries. As the first electro-acoustic manufacturing company listed on the main board of the Hong Kong stock exchange in 2000, Fujikon has more than 10,000 staff in the mainland and Hong Kong, and seeks to recruit six more people for replacement positions. 'We are not looking to expand too much,' said Carol Lam Miu-yan, Fujikon's assistant human resources manager. 'However, in replacing staff, we seek people who can bring in fine talent, positive attitudes, great energy and new ideas to our group. 'With a vision to become a world-class electro-acoustic company, we are not merely finding substitutes, but seeking employees who can grow with the business,' Ms Lam said. The company wants to recruit a range of sales, technical and financial staff in Hong Kong and its mainland offices, including finance manager, senior electronics engineer, senior mechanical engineer, assistant sales administration manager, senior sales executive and project supervisor/senior project supervisor. The technical positions require candidates to have solid mechanical skills and exceptional creativity to improve the product line in the Fujikon business. A finance manager must have the ability to define a sizeable budget for staff to deliver high quality products at a reasonable price. The requirements for the sales team include terrific social skills, three to five years' experience in the manufacturing field, especially in consumer electronics products, and knowledge of the brand. The project supervisor or senior project supervisor needs to be a degree holder in manufacturing, industrial, electronic or mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering disciplines. The candidates will be responsible for product development and project follow up at all times. 'The candidates need to have an electronics background, ideally in headphones. 'However, candidates with great potential and the right attitude will also be considered,' Ms Lam said. Fujikon is looking for creative and motivated individuals who are able to handle different situations calmly. Skills and experience aside, the company also stresses the importance of teamwork in addition to high energy and a sense of responsibility. Employees receive a wide range of training through programmes that build on technical skills and cultivate knowledge in managing their goals and achievement, mood management, health care, motivation and the importance of attention to detail. Fujikon's mission is to continuously improve quality and technology, and raise the satisfaction level of customers, suppliers and investors, so the company places emphasis on employee satisfaction. Incentives include competitive remuneration packages and bonuses. The company also recognises the importance of a good work-life balance. Staff can take coffee breaks in the pantry, where snacks and drinks are provided at a low price. The proceeds are then used towards staff functions and parties throughout the year. Good listeners Fujikon plans to recruit six people for its replacement positions Candidates need to be creative, motivated, energetic and possess team spirit People with experience in electronics, especially in headphones, are preferred, although people with the right attitude and potential will also be considered Various training programmes are available to build candidates' hard and soft skills Company benefits are good, with emphasis on employee work-life balance
