The number of Form Seven students applying to Hong Kong Institute of Education has increased by more than a fifth in the latest round of university application results. The second round of applications through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System, which is designed to assign university programmes to students with A-level results, ended this week. HKIEd received more than 20,000 applications compared with about 17,000 in the first round. HKIEd registrar So Kwok-sang attributed the increase in part to the government's recent decision to raise teachers' pay.
