French designer Andree Putman (below) has launched The Putman, a block of spacious, opulent and elegant apartments for long-stay businesspeople in Central.

The launch was at Gaia on Thursday, where Putman said: 'Accommodation design has always been a challenge - to find an answer to the question of personal comfort. The Morgans in New York was my answer in 1983, and The Putman in 2007 marks the ultimate evolution of the concept.'

Well, we guess she found the answer to personal comfort, with these uberluxurious boutique hotel rooms. Each one has 1,300 sq ft of space and state-of-the-art gadgets and furnishings, including two big-screen high-definition televisions, Siemens and Krups kitchen appliances, and a standalone Villeroy & Boch bathtub. Management will provide daily housekeeping as well as full porter, maintenance and concierge services. Other facilities will include a cafe on the ground floor, and a chic lobby area.

Prices for the one-bedroom suites will average HK$50,000 per month.

Among the guests who attended the launch were shoe man Christian Louboutin, the Kee Club's Marina Bullivant, actress Nicola Cheung Sun-yuet and entrepreneur Allan Zeman.
