The scorching heat did not deter more than 700 athletes from putting in their best effort during the second round of the Hong Kong Athletic League 2007 at Wan Chai Sports Ground over the weekend.
The competition, organised by the Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association, attracted participants from 29 clubs and schools.
On the first day last Saturday, Leung Ki-ho, of the Happy Valley Athletic Association, won the men's 200-metre race in 21.42 seconds, followed by his teammate, Wong Kin-ping (22.55 seconds).
In the women's category, 16-year-old Leung Hau-sze won the 200m with a time of 25.85 seconds. Tang Uen-shan and Tsang Wing-yan were second and third, respectively, in 26.19 seconds and 26.70 seconds.
Leung Ying-suet became the 'distance running queen' when she won the 5,000m, clocking 18 minutes, 53.01 seconds.
On Sunday, Chan Wai-lun easily won the men's 110m hurdles, timing 14.96 seconds.
