Sinopec's principal activities are the exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas. It transports, refines and markets crude oil, natural gas and products by pipelines. Other activities include the manufacture of chemical fibres, plastics, intermediate petrochemical products, synthetic fibres, resins, polyester chips and polyester fibres. It was reported last month that the nation's largest oil refiner and petrochemical producer plans to expand five refineries along the Yangtze River, as it shifts its focus to central provinces after largely completing development along the coast.
