China Power International Development's principal activities are the generation and sale of electricity, and the development of power plants in China. Last month, it was reported that the Hong Kong-listed arm of the mainland's fifth-largest power company would aim to make its first overseas investment in a power project ths year. The firm revealed it was in talks to invest in coal-fired power plants in Southeast Asia, possibly to buy existing plants or build new ones.
