I REFER to the letter from Jim Parsonage (South China Morning Post, January 8), responding to my earlier letter, on access restrictions to Victoria Peak Gardens.

I would say there is a pedestrian walkway along Mount Austin Road.

It is only in the upper section that there is a stretch of about 50 metres where people have to walk without one.

In my 30 years of experience of driving up to The Peak, this upper section has never been crowded.

On the Sunday I mentioned in my previous letter, I cannot recollect anyone walking along that section, as most people gather in the public garden and at the scenic lookout of the lower section.

Now, in effect, only Peak residents have an exclusive right to drive up Mount Austin Road.
