Son beats mother when she tries to wake him

An elderly woman was beaten with a stick by her 32-year-old son at their home in Sau Mau Ping yesterday. Law Tin-ying, 69, had been trying to wake her unemployed son in their Sau Mau Ping Estate flat at about 10am. 'Her son lost his temper and hit her with a metre-long wooden stick,' a police spokeswoman said. The woman suffered injuries to her right leg and called police. Her son fled before police arrived. The woman was in a stable condition in United Christian Hospital last night.
