Olympic gold medallist diver Tian Liang hopes his move into acting will encourage other athletes to find another career away from sport.
Speaking this week at a press conference for his debut film, The Fantastic Waterbabes, Tian (right) said professional athletes needed to plan for their future because competitive sport
is only short-term.
'Being an athlete is like studying at a university - one day you will graduate and you will have to accept that. In the past, many retired athletes chose to become coaches, but that career path is very narrow. What I'm trying to do is show them another option.'
In the romantic comedy, Tian plays a member of a swim team opposite former Olympian Alex Fong Lik-sun, Gillian Chung Yan-tung and Stephen Fung
Tak-lun.
