The family of 27-year-old fireman Wong Ka-hei, who died fighting a blaze in Tsuen Wan on May 22, has received HK$3.36 million from the government's financial assistance scheme. Health chief York Chow Yat-ngok, who heads the committee that recommended the aid, said yesterday: 'The late Mr Wong's selfless devotion ... with the high level of professionalism displayed, commands our greatest respect.' The assistance scheme was set up in January 2002 to aid relatives of those who die attempting to save or protect others.
