What is it?

A 50-minute facial using dark chocolate at the Ritz-Carlton's Health Club.

What's the atmosphere like?

There's only one facial/massage room, with traditional Ritz features such as a wood console and

crystal lamp.

What was it like?

Skin is cleansed, exfoliated and extractions are performed, all in preparation for the main event.

The dark chocolate is warmed

to a liquid consistency and painted on the face. Chocolate addicts beware as the delicious smell will have you craving the sweet stuff. Designed to deep-cleanse and moisturise, it uses cocoa butter enriched with orange essential oil and a nectar of cocoa enriched with vanilla oil.

What else?

Bernard Cassiere  products are used. To develop the chocolate treatment, Bernard Cassiere joined forces with Italian chocolate master Walter Bovetti.  The chocolate contains 64 per cent pure cocoa to hydrate, tone and regenerate.

What were the results?

The facial is  particularly good for dry complexions. It leaves skin surprisingly whiter,  smoother and moisturised without feeling greasy. And I could still smell the lingering scent of chocolate.

Was there anything you didn't like?

The therapist had originally planned to use a white chocolate mask but it didn't heat up to the required liquid consistency. So I had to wait an extra 40 minutes while the dark chocolate melted. To make up  I was offered a complimentary shoulder massage.
