Arabian nights

The Evason Hideaway and Six Senses Spa in Zighy Bay, Oman, will open with great fanfare in September, having already claimed for itself the title of finest boutique resort in the Middle East.

Sitting on the Mussandam Peninsula, the resort is a 90-minute drive from Dubai and enjoys a setting with mountains on one side and a 1.5km white sand beach on the other. Accommodation will include 82 pool villas (above), pool villa suites and pool duplexes, culminating in the three-bedroom Retreat, and all will come with butler service. Several villas will offer personal spa suites and 10 will have rooms for live-in staff.

Rubbing buffed shoulders with the resort's impressive wine cellar and private marina will be the Six Senses Spa, with nine treatment rooms, including two traditional-style Arabian hamams, or baths. And, in addition to the 82 private pools, the property will offer a large central swimming pool not far from a fully equipped gymnasium. See www.sixsenses.com for more details.
