Peeper jailed 2 weeks for under-skirt videos
A British tourist was jailed yesterday for filming up the skirts of more than a dozen women in Causeway Bay.
Joseph Dunkin, 51, took the videos using a digital camcorder last Friday but was noticed by the boyfriend of one of the women and chased along the street before being caught and beaten. Dunkin required eight stitches to his face.
The construction project design manager pleaded guilty to committing an act outraging public decency when he appeared in Kwun Tong Court yesterday and was sentenced to two weeks behind bars.
In mitigation, defence barrister Albert Luk said Dunkin made the mistake out of momentary stupidity because of the influence of alcohol. But Magistrate Gary Lam Kar-yan dismissed the claim, saying Dunkin took 14 videos of women that day.
The magistrate discounted the jail term from 21 days to two weeks in light of Dunkin's guilty plea.
'What you have done is clearly wrong in England or in Hong Kong. Taking under-skirt pictures is all too common in Hong Kong,' the magistrate said.
