Characteristics: Students are taught basic sailing skills. They will also learn the skills required to handle their boats under different weather conditions. An instructor is paired with two students. After learning basic techniques and necessary precautionary measures, students get the chance to sail under the guidance of coaches.

School: Sai Sha Water Sports
Duration: One day
Characteristics: Each class has between four and eight students. Students should be aged 13 and over. The one-day course costs HK$300, which includes coaching and equipment fee. Students learn basic sailing skills and how to use the equipment properly.

The path
There is an increasing demand for sailing coaches as more and more Hong Kong people become
interested in water sports. Those who have completed professional training and have the required qualifications can take up teaching posts at local or overseas yacht clubs and water sports centres. Experienced sailors can join international competitions and compete with top talents from around the world.
