Fifteen fully automated RoboTanks battled it out at the annual Robotic Project Competition organised by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's department of electronic and information engineering (EIE).
The event, run alongside the Interactive Game Design Competition, was aimed at providing an opportunity for students to develop their system-design skills, strengthen their problem-solving abilities and display their creativity.
'The competition was an excellent opportunity for us to gain experience and solve problems on our feet,' said Ho Lik-hang, joint winner with Patrick Lai.
Both Year Two EIE students had devoted an entire term to designing and building their RoboTank, which was required to search for and collect cylindrical blocks during the competition. A total of 40 teams took part and 16 finalists were chosen.
The innovative thinking of engineering students also shone through in the Interactive
Game Design Competition, which was won by a three-member team headed by Au Pak Hin-kit.
