Five Hong Kong students have been awarded perfect scores in the International Baccalaureate diploma. Some 96.6 per cent of the 422 students who studied for the diploma this year passed. Ian Chau Chi-hang, from Sha Tin College, was one of the students to receive a perfect score of 45, while three of his fellow students received 44 points. He will study law at Cambridge. The IB, which operates in more than 2,000 schools in 125 countries, has become increasingly popular, with 14 Hong Kong schools now registered to offer the diploma. The results of four candidates are still pending while four students withdrew.
