A red tide has been sighted in Hong Kong waters over the past few days, the first in almost a month. There were sightings at Victoria Harbour, east of Lamma Island, and southeastern and eastern waters off Hong Kong Island, reported by staff from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and Environmental Protection Department between Tuesday and Thursday. The occurrence at Victoria Harbour dissipated yesterday; the others continue. A number of popular beaches were closed by red tides for a few days last month, the last alert ending on June 16. Fishermen were asked to monitor the situation.
