The government would consider the unusual move of compensating and relocating the residents of endangered historic Nga Tsin Wai Village in Wong Tai Sin before any redevelopment plan was completed, Development Bureau secretary Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said. Mrs Lam said she saw the urgency as residents' living conditions in the village were 'considerably bad'. The centuries-old village is the last remaining walled village in the urban area and an issue of hot contention for heritage activists as it is marked for redevelopment.
