I may be the type of person who keeps chewing on old problems and banging my head against the wall about things I cannot change. But I try to let go and get on with life cheerfully.
At first I was upset when the picturesque hut covered with purple flowers in front of my home in Sai Kung was demolished and ploughed into the ground together with several productive fruit trees and banana plants.
They were all in the way of a major development rumoured to be up to 100 houses in a small valley just beyond where my home stands.
However, things did not stop there.
One enterprising neighbour tried to block the entrance to the valley to prevent the development by having the surrounding courtyards remeasured.
As a result, some of the stone fences had to be demolished while others had to be built.
The pillars and fences which had to be knocked down were dumped under my balcony and topped off by colourful pieces of plastic and a big pile of bamboo poles from the canopy of a rural wedding reception.
